The TCS-100 Temperature
Controller is a temperature modulated heating system. The heater output is controlled by an
analog circuit to reduce noise.
Unlike other heater controllers which switch the power on and off, causing spikes in the recording. The amount of power supplied to the heated bed depend on the temperature difference between the animal and the set temperature. As the temperature of the animal approches the set temperature the power supplied to the heated bed reduces. The top of the heated bed is a grounded aluminium plate, which also isolated any noise from the heating circuit. The system is specifically design to allow noise free recording of bio potentials from a rodent.
The graph below shows that the noise recorded by the system is practically unchanged
A temperature analog output can be used to record the temperature with a data acquisition system.
